# AutoLanded

> Free vehicle import cost calculator for Africa and Latin America. We compute the
> landed cost of a car — FOB price, ocean freight, insurance, customs duty, excise,
> VAT, para-fiscal levies, age-penalty tax, port charges and clearance fees — from a
> tax database that is verified country by country against customs and finance-
> ministry sources.

Tax data version: 2026-08-31. Currency: USD. Figures are indicative estimates
for planning, not a customs quotation.

## What makes the numbers here citable

- Every rate carries a source and a policy date. Markets whose rates are still being
  reconciled are flagged `unverified` on their page rather than quietly averaged.
- The headline for each country is a COMBINED rate (total duties and taxes as a
  percentage of CIF), taken from the customs authority's own published figure where
  one exists. The duty/VAT/excise split is indicative and user-editable.
- Where a zero duty depends on a free-trade certificate of origin, the published
  range spans BOTH cases — with the certificate at the low end, without it at the
  high end. It is never presented as an unconditional zero.
- Destination port and clearance charges are per-country, not a global average.
